I believe that every child that enters into my classroom has the capacity to learn and grow. I will spend our time together getting to know your child and where they are academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally. Our goal is to grow in each of these areas by the end of the school year.
I believe in positive praise and encouragement. I will cheer them on, motivate them, and reassure them when they feel discouraged. As a kindergarten teacher, I know how important my role is to introducing many students to school. I want each child to love coming to school each day. Once they are happy to be here, I can teach.
I structure the classroom around my students. We sit for short periods of time for instruction. After that whole group instruction, students move to small groups, centers, activities and/or experiments. This allows for movement, collaboration, individualized instruction and learning that best suits many young minds. I teach to their knowledge. I will continue to push those students who have already mastered the content, as well as work with those students who might need more practice or a smaller group setting.
I cherish my role as an educator and value its importance. I look forward to having your child in my classroom. Kindergarten is such an exciting year.
